ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2025
OVERALL WINNER SOLO EXHIBITION
The VAA Artist of the Year Awards, one of the UK’s leading platforms for contemporary art, presents a focused online showcase of this year’s most compelling voices.
Since its inception, the awards have championed outstanding emerging and established artists worldwide, offering a platform for visibility, recognition, and critical engagement. The 2025 edition foregrounds a dynamic and globally engaged contemporary art scene.
This solo presentation centres on Jaime Domínguez, a multidisciplinary abstract artist from Guadalajara, Mexico. Domínguez’s practice operates at the intersection of cultural memory and formal precision. Drawing on Mexican visual traditions, he reconfigures inherited motifs through the language of geometric abstraction, producing a body of work that is both rooted and rigorously contemporary.
With a background in architecture, his work is underpinned by a strong structural logic. Influences from modern architecture, scenography, and automotive and nautical design inform compositions that are controlled, spatially aware, and visually striking. Clean lines and geometric clarity are offset by subtle cultural references, creating a tension between minimalism and identity.

Jaime Domínguez
VAA Artist of the Year 2025 Overall Winner

Jaime Domínguez is a multidisciplinary Mexican abstract artist who was born in Guadalajara. His artistic path is profoundly influenced by his rich Mexican cultural heritage, which he thoughtfully incorporates into his work. Domínguez skilfully merges these cultural elements with aspects of modernist geometric abstraction, resulting in a distinctive artistic style.
As an architect Domínguez’s creative vision is characterised by a profound passion for modern architecture, scenography, and both automotive and nautical design. This diverse range of interests directly informs his artistic approach, as he skilfully blends geometric minimalism and architectural concepts with motifs drawn from Mexican folk traditions. Through this unique fusion, Jaime creates work that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in cultural heritage.
Jamie was the Overall Winner of the VAA Artist of the Year Awards 2026, VAA Art100 Winner 2026, and a Saatchi Art Top Seller, he continues to exhibit his work internationally.
